Challenge Of The Week '07

This year we are still doing a challenge a week, however this time a different person gets to pick the challenge each time, and there are no limits on what the challenge can be.

1. Bren - Include one or more of the following elements:
a) The sentence "There's a bigger elephant in the room than you think!"
b) The word "coxcomb"
c) Sam and Jack stuck off world or in an AU together
d) The use of fruit in a scientific explanation.
No length requirement--drabble on up to full-blown plot-bunny-infested story! :D
Bethany *SLASH*
Bren
Su

2. Su - Okay, I won't be as adventurous as Bren and set a four part challenge. So this challenge is to use the phrase below in a drabble, ficlet, story or novel - whatever you like! Btw, the phrase is an instruction printed on a US Rocket Launcher,  just so you know. That certainly made me chortle with amusement, and might provoke your muse, but I'm pretty sure there are many ways it can be used.
"Aim towards the Enemy"

3. Maggie - This week's challenge is to use the phrase "you did what?" and/or the word "sunrise".

4. Bethany - My Challenge:
PLEASE, write a fic in which someone, Jack, Sam, Teal'c, whoever, gets reminiscent about Daniel's early days... About how he used to fling himself into the path of danger - And about how and why Jack used to haul him back from the precipice, sometimes literally (in episodes like Need/The Light)... It can be two characters, Jack & Sam, perhaps, talking about the fact that when you get past all the bluster & banter & teasing, Jack does care for Daniel... Or it can be a funny incidence/angst & peril incidence, an account, of such a moment... And how Teal'c and Sam are left to observe, as Daniel charges in with his heart, and Jack goes after him... It can be about Daniel's motives for being this way; happy, sad, or brave free spirit... Anything!!! A Drabble or ficlet, perhaps...
Bethany

5. Gwil - This week's challenge is to use one or more of the following elements in a drabble or story:
a) A game of ping-pong
b) The phrase "hold your horses"
c) The word "luminosity"
Maggie

6. S.A - To save anyone having to think up something for this week's challenge i went into my folder of many unfinished fic bits and grabbed two. You don't have to use them in a story if you don't want, just see if they inspire you at all. I'm doing two to cover both something lighthearted and something that could be a bit darker.
a) He paused, staring down at the ground before collapsing onto it with a sigh, covering his face with his hat.
"O'Neill?" Teal'c titled his head in concern.
Jack covered his hat with his hand. "It's too hot."
"The ruins are just over that hill Sir." Carter pointed out, trying to resist the urge to join him.
"Don't care."
"We can't just stop here Jack."
"I can. You three go on ahead, I'll join you later."
"It's not safe Sir, we have no idea if this planet's inhabited."
"Don't make me order you Carter!"
The three of them paused, unsure of what to do. They silently moved away, out of earshot.
"O'Neill is acting most unusual."
"He doesn't like hot weather." Daniel explained.
Sam glanced over at him, a smirk slowly appearing on her face. "I have an idea."
b) He walked down the empty corridor, footsteps echoing in the silence.
Reaching Carter's lab he poked his head inside, finding it empty, suprised that there were no experiments running, which meant that she hadn't just popped to the commissary for a snack.
Walking inside he found a photograph of a piece of text, in a language he didn't recognise.
"She went to see Daniel?" He asked the room, shaking his head when he was almost disappointed that it didn't reply.
By the time he arrived at Daniel's lab he was getting concerned, he hadn't seen anyone, not a single annoying scientist or saluting SF.

7. Bethany - Here are my challenge OPTIONS:
Crossover: In some sort of weird AU, Jack, Sam and the team get thrown into a Parallel Universe type thing, where they come across The DS9 station from Star Trek: DS9... Maybe, they find its sister Station, Empok Nor, abandonned, and make a Base there, secretly creating a 2nd base for safety from their own Universe, in the Star Trek Universe... Maybe they find it in the early years, when Kira was a freedom fighter undercover on DS9 (and they team up with her & Odo!?), or maybe, they find it in the latter years, when Sisko and co. are in charge, perhaps amidst The War With The Dominion... (and the COOL Pah-Wraith/Prophet fight between Jake Sisko and Kira in Season 6's The Reckoning).. . This idea came about because, I think, Season 3's Point Of View is very similar, in feel, to DS9...
OR:
Do a story where Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko) turns up as a new young Goa'uld in the mould of Anubis and/or Skaara/Klorel. .. Perhaps, Jake is still posessed by the Pah-Wraith (possibly known as an Ori in the SG Universe/ a Pah Wraith in the parallel DS9 Universe; or maybe The Pah-Wraith are the Goa'uld/an evil evolution of The Trill??)... Or, just make it simpler, and make a Cirroc play a Goa'uld, as first suggested..!
OR:
If you are not into Crossovers, try this:
A story where the SG1 team/cast are actually the SGA Expedition Members, and the SGA Expedition members (from the show) are actually the ones who live in the SGC (and it's always been that way, so, in essence, it's the SGA faces we met and knew first, as such..!)... So, put the SG1 team in Atlantis & The SGA lot in The SGC...
OR:
A simpler Challenge:
A story where one of the team observes that Stargates can look as pretty as a Christmas tree when they're all lit up! (The Pegasus Galaxy ones are that beautiful Turquoise & ours are that Christmassy red!!)

8. Phil - Here are the "plots" I had, if some seem interesting to you please use them. Usually they're sentences I noted that sparked some ideas.

--- A cloud moves in secret.

--- "That must be wonderful..."

--- My hands are dirty, your hands are dirty ! We chose this. It's too late to feel sorry.

--- Don't wait for the Last Judgment, it takes place everyday.

--- God is absence, God is the solitude of man.

--- Death is the continuation of my life without me.

--- Alas after a certain a ge, every man is responsoble for his face.

--- Denial ain't just a river in Egypt !  (goofy Jack story thoughts)

--- We are all alike, on the inside.
